Diving deep into my artistic journey Harley and The Joker
The Story Behind My Harley Quinn & Joker Drawing
"Diving deep into my artistic journey..."
There's one piece I've poured my heart into more than any other, my Harley Quinn and Joker drawing. This work has followed me through three states, three seasons of life, and over a decade of growth, change, and emotion.
I started this piece in Arizona back in 2013. As a longtime fan of Harley and Joker, I was drawn to their vibrant energy and complex, messy love. Their story isn’t perfect, it's full of pain, chaos, and longing! But underneath all that, there's something magnetic. It's that emotional tension I wanted to capture in my own way.
As a busy mom, my art often comes in waves! I work when I can, in the quiet in-between moments of life. I picked the drawing back up again after moving to Alabama, then set it aside once more when life got busy again. In 2024, after moving to Illinois, I found myself returning to it with a renewed sense of focus and passion.
This piece has become a mirror of my journey, slow, emotional, evolving. I use Prismacolor Premier colored pencils on Bristol paper, my absolute favorite materials. Every mark I make is layered with feeling. When I say on TikTok that I'm “diving deep into my artistic journey,” this piece is exactly what I mean. It's challenged me creatively and emotionally, in all the right ways.
My hope is that when you look at this drawing, you feel the love, the trauma, the connection, and the chaos between Harley and Joker, two broken souls who loved each other fiercely, even when they were scared. This isn't just fan art. This is my story, too. A story of devotion, growth, and healing through art.
To my Muses, Thank You for inspiring me to keep going.
Stay tuned, because this one's nearly finished.
